CARING FOR THE CITY AND THE COMMUNITY

We believe that there is much more to a shopping centre than shopping and entertainment. It is also a place to hang out, to spend leisure time and, for many people, to work. It is an integral part of the city, and in particular of the district, for whose residents it is often the main place to do everyday things.

At Blue City, we have always focused on symbiosis with the city and its inhabitants. We wanted to be a place where you could buy shoes, but also take them to the cobbler. To go to the cinema and at the same time get your keys made up. We try to introduce as many solutions as possible to make everyday life easier.

FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

For the future of the capital’s residents, in 2024 we announced our ESG strategy for the next 25 years. Yes, Blue City is already visited by the second generation of visitors. That’s why we also think about the children who come to us with their parents today. We want their children to enjoy the green capital. In the strategy we announced, we pledged to achieve total climate neutrality, i.e. zero greenhouse gas emissions, by 2050. In practice, this means that we have switched to a green energy supply and are continuously upgrading the lighting systems in the centre. At the same time, work is currently underway to start the construction of our own 1 MWp photovoltaic farm on the site of the multi-storey car park (approximately 1 ha of development area). All of the energy produced by the panels is expected to be used to cover part of the centre’s energy requirements and thus contribute to making its space more attractive for use. The project assumes that none of the kilowatts produced will be channelled back into the power grid. In the event of future overproduction, the project will be developed using energy storage. Cooling systems are also being comprehensively upgraded, based on environmentally friendly solutions and equipment.

Naturally, Blue City is not only about customers, but also about tenants, with whom we will cooperate on the road to climate neutrality – for instance by signing green lease clauses. We want to act here as a guide, but also as a partner, not as a demanding contractor.

FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

We want to actively inspire and facilitate eco-friendly attitudes among customers. We want it to be easy to get to Blue City by leaving the car at home. Our location is convenient – the proximity of the WKD station, the West Railway Station or a dozen or so bus lines with stops right next door. We financed the construction of the Opaczewska bus terminal. Soon, it will also be possible to reach us by tram, as part of a newly constructed line. However, these are not all alternatives – a Veturilo city bike station is available in front of Blue City, as well as a large bicycle car park and a free repair station. On top of this, we are still developing a charging network for electric cars.

Our closest neighbours are also important to us – we have been organising and supporting collections for the local DPS for years, we cooperate with the Ochota Youth Cultural Centre and finance the ‘Korniszon’ magazine published by children and young people there.
