Since 1992, The Public Transport Authority of Warsaw has been managing and supervising public transport in the Warsaw metropolitan area. In cooperation with 30 local governments of the suburban municipalities, it provides transit services to more than two million residents of the capital.
On weekdays, more than 1.5 thousand buses, 400 trams, 30 metro trains and 20 SKM trains are assigned to service the public transport routes.
Together with the municipalities, the Masovian Railway (Koleje Mazowieckie, KM) and the Warsaw Commuter Railway (Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa, WKD) the ZTM arranges transport for travellers enjoying an “Integrated Ticket”, accepted by railway operators and in 24 local bus lines.
The Public Transport Authority is a member of the European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (EMTA) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP).
